 As of March 2026, TDP Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav has been embroiled in a drug controversy following a police raid at a farmhouse in Moinabad, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Telangana.

• The Incident: Telangana police's Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) raided a farmhouse owned by former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy on March 14, 2026, finding a party with drugs, alcohol, and a firearm.
• Drug Test Results: Putta Mahesh Kumar tested positive for methamphetamine in a preliminary blood test conducted after the raid.
• Legal Action: The Moinabad police registered a case against 11 people, including the MP, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The MP was released on station bail, allowing him to attend parliamentary sessions, but was ordered to cooperate with the investigation.
• Party Action: The TDP high command issued a show-cause notice to Putta Mahesh Kumar, seeking an explanation within 48 hours and instructing him to stay away from party activities until the matter is resolved.
